Quarterly Report, June to Sept '24

As we entered our third year of the STAR project, we focused on social protection and inclusion, addressing residents' needs through the Hurricane Beryl relief response, kicking off the STAR Summer Programme for our youth and children, and helping parents and kids get ready for back-to-school.

Year two of Project STAR

In this report we share gains made in communities in our second year of implementing Project STAR. According to STAR's community services lead, Sharise Staines-Appleby, "These vulnerable yet resilient communities are at the start of a journey to shift previous narratives and realities towards a thriving space where positive, sustained development can become their reality. We are happy to be on this journey with them.”

Over the third quarter of our second year, mobilising community led action was a main area of focus for Project STAR across all our target communities.

This report looks at STAR's performance during the period September to November 2023. It includes updates on STAR's KPIs and summaries of STAR's continued work under the Project's social and economic pillars.

Year One of Project STAR

Year One of Project STAR is our first annual report, in which we share our progress in communities. According to Amillea Moore, job placement and training coordinator, “We have been able to do what the community itself has asked of us. Our approach has been of the community, for the community, by the community.”

This report looks at STAR performance during the period June to August 2023. It includes updates on STAR's KPIs and analysis of STAR's publicity and awareness-building campaign which ran in support of the launch of our Social IPO.

Quarterly Report December 2022 -February 2023

This report covers Project STAR's data-driven approach, with support from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), to address social and economic challenges in under-served communities of East Kingston and Savanna-la-Mar. The report addresses the progress made in the program, which includes community entry and engagement in Parade Gardens and Rose Gardens areas, violence interruption strategies, and job creation initiatives. Additionally, it highlights the formation of the Community Transformation Board and the Economic Transformation Strategy that aim to enhance livelihoods and employment opportunities for individuals in STAR communities.
